About Me

HOLA! Soy Paola.

I was born in Bogotá, Colombia and grew up in Sunny Miami, where communicating with cultures and nationalities from around the world  became my passion at an early age. As a trained classical ballet dancer, I dreamed of becoming a prima ballerina and received an academic scholarship to dance at American Heritage School in South Florida.

My love for technology began while recovering from a life-changing injury where I was unable to walk for almost 2 years. Yup, I learned a lot about tech from a wheelchair when "surfing the web" was the only active thing I could do without standing.

Facebook, Google, and Instagram became my best friends, and the places I'd go for asking questions about my injury and keeping friends and family updated on my recovery. If technology had the capacity connect me to places and people around the word, how could I, too, use technology to create more human connections?

I studied Advertising & Marketing at The University of Miami, in hopes of becoming the next Don Draper. I dreamed of starting a multicultural ad agency to help brands create better Spanglish ads for the US-hispanic market. Alas! My idea of a timeless advertising campaign was forever changed at the search bar... where I got lucky (and started working in tech!)

After 7 years in tech and a miraculous recovery, I'm inspired to be a Latina in the tech space and I'm passionate about being able to bridge the diversity gap in Silicon Valley. I'm currently a contributing writer at #LatinaGeeks, an active member of Latinas in Tech, which aim at empowering Latinas in the tech workplace and promoting personal & professional development. I have been asked to speak at CLICSF's panel of Colombian Leaders in Silicon Valley to share my story and build the Colombian tech community in SF. I also serve on the Board of Latinas in Finance, and will soon serve as the Marketing Chair for Prospanica's Bay Area chapter. I am also the co-founder of #LaNube LatinX in Cloud Technologies, a global community of Latinos building, disrupting, and leading in the Cloud Technology industry.

My passion for diversity and inclusion is not just in the workplace- but in impacting diverse markets through disruptive technologies!

I'm on a life mission to discover and (one day) support the world’s most talented entrepreneurs, help them create successful companies and brands at scale, and build thriving global ecosystems.

In order to best channel my curiosity and passion for innovation, I am looking for a diverse work environment, with team members from around the world speaking different languages, and exhibiting cross-cultural awareness and understanding. With the right mix of talent and perspectives, we can bridge the knowledge gap between Silicon Valley and the world’s growing tech creators!
